NC Trip (A little late but I'm testing the new layout)

For our third year anniversary we rode up to Asheville, NC to get to the Black Mountains and hike the Deep Gap Trail. I can't even begin to describe the absolute beauty of autumn in that area. Pictures don't do them justice but I took them anyway! We hiked 4.5 miles from Mt. Mitchell, over Mt. Craig, Big Tom, Balsam Cone, Cattail Peak and Potato Hill (none of which were less than 6,000ft in elevation) to do some backwoods camping. We were the only ones there so it was kind of eery but also very peaceful. We were on alert as there are black bears in the area so we tried to make as much "human" noise as possible to deter any curious critters. Bella went with us and carried her own pack full of her things. She seemed a little nervous when we got to camp so while Chris was cooking and I helped set up camp we tossed her in the tent where she would peek out every minute or so.

On the hike back out we made a stop at Cattail Peak to grab a snack and take our packs off for a few minutes. It had been clear and beautiful the hike out but we were trying to beat dusk to get to camp so we didn't stop and take pictures. I tried to get in a few on our trek out.

By the time we got back to the car I had two tuckered Hardimans who didn't really get to see all the gorgeous scenery on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

But I think they had a great time! I know I did.
